In regions from Bavaria to Austria, young girls are often referred to as "dirndl's". To the rest of the world, though, a dirndl is a very special traditional costume, often worn at markets and folk festivals - most famously the Octoberfest in Munich, Germany.The Octoberfest is about more than just beer. It's also something like fashion week for the latest in folk-wear and believe it or not, the dirndl is in, especially with young people. The Munich outfitter, Lodenfrey can attest that dirndl sales are on the rise, no matter the shape colour and size. The only thing the items have in common is that they are pricey. A dirndl can cost you up to two thousand euros. Tostmann by Salzburg is produces most of the world's dirndls, with 100 employees and a turnover of around four million Euros a year. it's a true feminine dress. Compared that to what you see girls wearing nowadays which is mostly jeans (or pants) and a tee, simply put the dirndl has a high appeal to men. Okay maybe the apron is a bit much but girls should definitely go back to dresses more.
