I was born in Honolulu in '79 and we left back to the Mainland around '83 and one of the few things I remember about being out there is this song.

Ah, memories....Rainbows over Manoa, warm fresh malasadas from Leonard's, Kui Lee, Frank Fasi, 30-footers at Waimea, sunsets from Lahaina or Kona, eagling 15 at Mid-Pacific, Lex Brodie, Gabby, and Sonny Chillingworth, Arthur Lyman at HV, pancakes at Times in Kailua, Al Michaels calling the AAA games at the old ballpark, driving up from Hilo in the middle of the night to watch Puu Kukui's 1500-foot fountains, and dozens of people for whom the terms neighbors or friends seem too weak.

Finally. I couldn't hit the "favorite" button quick enough! For some reason (perhaps Alzheimer's - who knows?) I remember it being "Cecelio and Kapono." Anyway, thanks, ; Did '56-'59 there before statehood, and '65-'92 before losing my mind and moving out to Colorado. |
