That is a great question and I have read so many times from Chris and Debbie that they had no part in selecting songs for singles. Perhaps that was the nature of the business back then but I think artists today have more control over things like that...because let's face it they wrote all these songs so they should have a say. It would have done well I think.

This was going to be a single in early 1980 but " Call Me" happened so Chrysalis went with a sure fire winner instead of the failure or " The Hardest Part" in November of 79. They didn't want to compete with " Call Me" .

I'm a self-professed radio geek and worked in radio for a few years on-air. This particular track, sounded like a "chart-bound" or "hit-bound" melody that almost sounds campy. I think it would have fit in well with tracks from that era, though.Your first point, aboout X-number of singles, also valid, had a few exceptions such as with The Cars and The Eagles.Guess the PD's back then had their reasons as multi-million dollor coprs weren't, yet, all around the airwaves. Thanks for the reply!I

good question, couple of points...- Both Eat To The Beat and Parallel Lines featured a high density of quality singles, so the theory goes, only an "X" amount will be allocated as singles.- Both albums mentioned were released in the late '70's, Blondie's sound was still considered unconventional by top 40 radio, even though they moved a little more to the mainstream with the two albums mentioned.great band, great sound, made great records that stand the test of time.
