Sorry, but my previous comment did not state that I have to date not found a full recording of the John Stamoa version of Cabaret the revival. There is a version of most of the complete play with Alan Cummings. It is on You Tube and is the "Donmar Warehouse" production of the play in about seventeen scenes. It was made for TV so it is CLOSE to the play on stage, but like the movie version with Joel Grey, it was a bit sanitized and de-sexualized.

This version with John Stamos, in my opinion, is so far the best interpretation of the Emcee. It's more androgenous, less femmy, and may confuse one. John plays the part as masculine with little hints of femininity. Confusing at best, sexy, cute, and sometimes disturbing. Watch the whole play. The ending is disturbing and sad and maya shed some light on his character.

He's not gay enough but is better than Adam as Emcee I'm afraid

HaHa, that's what happens when an actor lacks true talent. He either plays a character exactly as it's written, or copies the performance from someone talented.

i'm just glad he didn't still act like a rock star *cough adam pascal cough*

Hmmm...I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that. I'm a big fan of Alan Cummings, but to me, he plays it CREEPY. It gives me the willies. And I like this version b/c, atleast in this scene, I feel like John Stamos makes it more playful. And I like his improv. ^.^

Omg, I know right? I started watching this thinking, wow, this is gonna be a laugh. And it was...but not 'cause he sucked!! His performance is my favorite on youtube! Lol.

Gee. He's playing this character exactly like Alan Cummings played it. Is he supposed to be doing that, because if not he's cheating. You're supposed to make the character your own, not rip off someone else's work. |
