this was probably shot at my old art school - a lot of early Cabs videos apparently came out of Psalter Lane, Sheffield Poly :-DWould love to find out which though...no real details on the vids?
(...)but after 1983 a lot music began to suck and New Wave was pretty much dead in the water. If they weren't cutting tracks that sounded like Johnny Hates Jazz, they weren't gonna get recognition in the airwaves.
Spot on! Also, I do think that music began to be interesting again with the acid-house/techno explosion towards the end of the '80s although it wasn't as culturally oriented as the New Wave one. It was a protest against Thatcher's and Reagan's policy too.

Got it through Limewire, but thanks though. I still need to get TVOD. Maybe a blogspot...

Their best material is from their early years up to The Crackdown. You see, they made music that sound effortless and fun (although if one were to try, they'd find it is more complicated than that). I do agree that some of their post-Crackdown music should have charted, but after 1983 a lot music began to suck and New Wave was pretty much dead in the water. If they weren't cutting tracks that sounded like Johnny Hates Jazz, they weren't gonna get recognition in the airwaves. |
