oooops.. maybe the piano is a lil wonky toohaha: drummer is stiff & piano guy was tired of hammering "on time" - just being hyper-critical for a minute - yeah - I love Toto! But their rhythm was always as great as their writing, arranging & performing. So wonky beats doesn't cut it

I LOVE this song and TOTO is simply astounding but, didn't anyone notice this drummer kinda slam-drags the tune? There's a flam happening with something else and the backup singers are stiff/i.e. "not on time", they're ahead of the beat. Still, it sounds amazing with an orchestra who cares about the mistakes? This is live humans!!... but it doesn't have the kick-drum groove it used to, and that's part of the Toto magic. Love Lukather!! |
