The cat was anesthetized; but certainly moral issues should be taken into consideration when using animals for laboratory purposes. In this case, Hubble and Weisel have contributed incalculably to the field of vision and visual processing research. Something that many people will benefit from. So at the expense of a few cats, I feel this research warrants the use of animals. However, I am particularly against the use of animals for cosmetic and vanity purposes.
