1st there was Joe Venuti, then! Came Stephane Grappelli, with many following in after...

i agree. most of them play for money, to please or impress others, for fame and success or some other bullshit but a true musician like grapelli plays only for music itself and for the spirit of music. great recording!

I admire Stephane Grappelli and his playing. But you said that his technique can't be argued?Haha, Okay...Only if you could've asked him to play Paganini Caprices and some of the most difficult Violin Concertos. You have to know that there are just somethings you cannot compare...never and ever...Sure his sound is amazing, unique, and has color and style. But that doesn't mean his technique is unquestionable. There are a lot more things you don't know about advanced violin techniques.

im commenting on how he pioneered his own style of playing its a high order compliment not a put down any violinist would recognise that. Noone can argue with his playing tecnique after hearing him. It was a compliment sorry if it didnt come across that way. Try and be civilised after all this is a grapelli video.

You fucking cook sucker this is the best violin jazz playing in the world! If you can beat that your something else man because this is a classic of life and of music. He will stay, for me, the best player of jazz I have ever heard.
