This song moves me. It encaspulates the beauty that is Africa, my motherland. Iam in touch with my African pride when I listen to this song. It lifts my spirit. It boils to the fore my love for this beautiful continent and her people. When I listen to it, I am priviledged to be born and live here. Its a masterpiece of African beauty.

Mauritania was once a turbulent place in history. If I remember correctly, this was the place where Char Bouba (30 years war) was fought, led initially by the Berber imam Nasr ad Din. But even amidst their war with the Arabs, the people were able to ward off the possible complete European encroachment. It was a pretty much impressive feat, given that they have managed to thwart Western powers though their political structure at that time isn't that stable.

FYI, the video was made in Nouadhibou, north-west of Mauritania. It's a beautiful place to visit :) |
