The trap the news is making is confusing the Awakening to the Surge. The success with the Awakening in Ramadi was the blueprint for the surge. McCain is correct in his understanding since he, during my days in Ramadi, visited twice. To learn more about the awakening look up Sheik Sattar. To learn more about the Americans who contributed to new philosophy look up Patriquin, McMaster, Nagl and David Galula. In his latest book, Bob Woodward gives one paragraph reference to Galula's book.

cxpage--good post. I'm always amazed but mainly shocked, how unimformed McCain's "base"are. Are they really that ignorant, racists, or just so filled with hate? It's frightening. Obama IS the future. McCain will set us back 50 plus years. This is 2008 NOT 1958--vote forthe future.
