Great folk singers is actually much less of what Peter Paul and Mary really were. Died in the wool communists, at the height of the cold war, these folks were singing peace and love when school kids were doing nuclear disaster drills. They were largely hated by the conservative establishment of the time, but continued to break way for the flower power peacenicks that were to follow, though hippies were no where near as subversive, politically. It took guts to be Mary Travers, I respect her
