Fly is the funnest and hardest way to catch them. I caught my first bone on spin cast rod (10lb test line) with a piece of shrimp. You can also use 1/8 oz. jig heads w/Mr. Twister type lures. Yellow or clear with gold flakes had yeilded best results. Fish the lure on the sea floor. Thats where they look for their food.

I think that it is a personal choice. Lots of people go sight fishing for bones using spinning rods and small jigs or baits. Fly fishing is probably more challenging, but try them both and see what you prefer!

Is flyfishing the preferred method for bonefish? I am starting to fly fish and I am in a scout troop that is going to Sea Base and we'll go to the Bahamas and fish and sail and snorkel so I was wondering if bonefishing is done at all not on the fly.
