"When a Catholic doe not share a candidate's stand in favor of abortion and/or euthanasia, but votes for that candidate for other other reasons, it is considered remote material cooperation, which can be permitted in the presense of proportionate reasons." -- Pope Benedict XVI.

And just b/c someone is pro-life does not mean s/he must do more for those who suffer than one who is pro-choice. We all have to do what we can and I strongly believe there should be more help for those women who are pregnant and feel they're unable to care for their child, however, there are many, many programs run by volunteers willing to help. It's simple though, abortion destroys human life. The only choice is whether you're going to respect life or not.

Pro-life is dishonest? If I don't care about people once they're born, I don't care about them in the womb either. The argument makes no sense. I want a better world. I want every child to be happy, but this isn't the case for many, and there's only so much I can do, but I won't ever stop defending the right of that child to come into this world. You cannot justify taking a life b/c of the potentially difficult life one might face once born. Human life is not contingent.

Can you prove this? Or is this another theory that has flaws in it. Many churches have been responsible for editing the bible and yes they will be judged for adding or erasing the words of the book as it says. But you cannot question the reliability of the bible if you have not read it "YOURSELF" - important to note. To be honest the bible is what we need in this day and age, something called FAITH, TRUST and LOVE. Easy to hate and hold a grudge, but you will die old, lonely and bitter.

The bible is neither good, nor true, and the fact is that believers don't read it with an honest, objective mind. Bible has almost as many mistakes as it has words. It is filled with thousands of errors, contradictions, and outright nonsense. Time and time again it has proven to be false. Most religious people refuse to accept this, because it's not what they want to believe. "The Truth" is that bible is ridiculous-- full of the most foolish absurdities. It has no place in the modern world.

Merrie16, You can't get answers to your questions, like, "How does her comment=celebrating rape? Making a bit of an illogical leap there." here on a Catholic forum which DELETES replies addressed to you.One reason Catholics are so ignorant is that they are PREVENTED from even SEEING or HEARING anything their gate keepers deem unacceptable.

Union busting also serves to support the idea that employers do not have to make concessions to pregnant women/mothers.

I suppose my point was relating to your comment on honesty and word choice. It is not more "honest" to call pro-choice people "pro giving a woman the choice to allow a doctor to kill her child," even if you have a sense that those terms best represent how you "feel" about the issue.
merrie16 (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
I don't believe that I said anything that misrepresented the "pro-choice" position, and I was defending a pro-life stance against Rayosun's attack. And I do believe that using the word "choice" pretties up something very ugly. Sorry if you feel that's an attack, but it is what it is. |
