look what happens to an eco structure when "alien" matter/organisms are introduced, the Cane toad for example is decimating and dominating the Indigenous occupants in non native country's.

If only people thought more like you

yeahh..i wish nasa can jump start that experiment like making a planting rover which could digg, plant, isolate from contamination, then experiment 2 c whether plants can grow there or not.haha. just an idea.

Mars Science Lab was approved in 06 for an 09 launch, at a cost of $1.7B. NASA's budget: FY06: $15B, FY07: $16B, FY08: $17B, FY09: ~$20B.NASA's FY08 budget of $17B represents 0.6% of the $2.9T US budget, or 1/2 cent for every $1.NASA has cost ~$810B in 50 years. The "War on Terror" has cost >$600B in 7 years. In addition, the money doesn't just get burnt up or shot into space. NASA spends it on earth, where it flows into the economy. Please use your brain.

I presume that an awful lot of calculation is needed to aim the rover so it makes it to Mars. Judging by its size in which in travels through space, does not seems to carry much fuel thus can't change direction. And how does the machine know when to deploy the parachute and such. Are they manually controlled 7 months later since launch or are there automatic sensors that detects the approach.

And you're a waste of oxygen. Money is a 1 byte of information in a database, ignorant fool.Oxygen is a resource, it can be measured in volume.Makes you pretty useless for society. Enjoy

Money; do you know what today's money is? Money is debt. This point of view is for public consumption. It was never about money; but resources and survival. The future of our civilization's monetary policies - a cashless society, then evolving into a 'moneyless' one with resources as the prime medium of 'exchange', if there will be one at all.

Mars is extremely cold. It does get warm enough occasionally to support a few extremely hardy lichens, but it's far too dry to grow anything. We aren't going to contaminate it with plants for no reason. We need to wait until we've studied it further or we are building a colony. We could terraform it, but that would probably take a global effort and trillions of dollars, if it can be done with current technology at all. For now, Mars is a cold, dry, lifeless, yet strangely Earthlike curiosity.

Wonderful... very heart-warming and inspiring, and I love your choice of music. Perhaps the US will again be a country of science and learning, discovery and invention, now that the Bush Era is over |
